Item Description

Whitney Houston, Jamiroquai and BTS on the same playlist? Just Dance 2024 Edition makes it work without blinking. Ubisoft’s 2023 installment of its long-running dance series brings forty new songs spanning genres and decades, from “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and “Canned Heat” to “Butter,” Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers,” the Pussycat Dolls’ “Don’t Cha” and David Guetta and Bebe Rexha’s “I’m Good (Blue).”

On Xbox, the game is designed around a smartphone as the controller: dancers hold their phone and follow the on-screen coach, scoring points as their movement matches the routine, and up to six people can join a session. Songs come in easy, medium and hard difficulties with chill, moderate and intense effort levels, and some routines get creative, such as an alternate version of AURORA’s “Cure for Me” with a papercraft look.

Workout mode turns a session into exercise with an on-screen calorie counter, and the new Challenge mode is built around beating other players’ posted scores on your own schedule, so even a solo player always has a score to chase. The “Dance with the Swan” story playlist continues the Danceverse storyline that began in the 2023 Edition, and a profile with backgrounds, avatars, aliases and emotes lets every player in the house stake out an identity.

Each Just Dance edition is a time capsule of the year’s pop, and this one captures late 2023 well, with a mix of chart hits and dance-floor throwbacks that suits a birthday party, a family night or a solo cardio session equally well. On the Xbox Series X it is the year to pick if “Flowers” and “I’m Good (Blue)” are on your playlist.
