The joke at the heart of the recent Jumanji films is that a group of teenagers gets pulled into a video game and has to survive it as mismatched adventurers. Jumanji: The Video Game takes that premise home. Developed by Funsolve and published by Outright Games, it puts you and up to three friends in the boots of Dr. Bravestone, Ruby Roundhouse, Mouse Finbar and Professor Oberon, each with the unique abilities and comic weaknesses that made the films such fun.

The goal is to recover the jewels and save Jumanji, fighting through armies of marauders, dodging deadly beasts and traps, and unlocking customizations along the way. It is built for co-op: you can gather friends for split-screen play, go online, or head out alone with AI companions filling the other slots. The PlayStation 5 Enhanced Edition, announced in 2021, brought the game to the new console with support for up to 120 frames per second.

It is a light, accessible action game made for short sessions and families rather than a deep adventure, and that is exactly its appeal. For a household that enjoyed Welcome to the Jungle and The Next Level, it is a cheerful way to play the movies' characters together on one couch.
