King Goobot and his egg-shaped Yokians have abducted every parent in Retroville, and the only kid smart enough to bring them home is the one with the towering swirl of hair and a lab full of half-finished inventions. Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius on the Game Boy Advance is a bright, brisk platformer that turns the film's alien kidnapping plot into a mission to rebuild a rocket and fly to the rescue.

Human Soft developed it for THQ in 2001, timed to the movie's release, and it sends Jimmy across his hometown and out into space collecting the parts his ship needs. The stages run from Jimmy's house and an asteroid field to the underworld and capital city of the Yokian home planet, plus a stop at the Retroland amusement park. His robot dog Goddard is more than a sidekick here, transforming into the Goddard Pogo, Scooter and Sled to carry Jimmy through different stretches of the adventure. Collectibles tucked into out-of-the-way corners give completionists a reason to explore, and a password at the end of each level saves your progress.

Its crisp, clear sprites and smooth animation hold up well, and it is a solid Nickelodeon platformer from the system's first year. If you saw the movie in theaters or grew up on the TV series that followed, it's an easy, colorful trip back to Retroville.

That's nothing for Jimmy Neutron, the teenage super genius whose amazing inventions often get him into heaps of trouble. This time, it's up to you to get Jimmy out of his toughest tangle. You'll go through six levels, including Jimmy's house, the Asteroids, Yolkus Underworld, Yolkus City, and Retroland. Jet around on Goddard, Jimmy's proudest invention that can turn into the Goddard Pogo, Goddard Scooter, and the Goddard Sled. Can Jimmy's get himself through this grand adventure?
