Magic: The Gathering single: Jet Medallion, from Commander 2014. Our grade: Lightly Played or better. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Two colorless mana up front, and every black spell you cast afterward costs one less. Jet Medallion is a quiet engine that pays you back turn after turn: land it early and your removal, tutors, reanimation spells and big Demons all arrive a step ahead of schedule.
The Medallions began in Tempest as a cycle of five artifacts, one for each color, and Jet is the black member. The discount trims one generic mana from each black spell, so it adds up fastest in decks that cast several spells a turn, and it is at its best in mono-black or black-heavy Commander decks where nearly everything you cast qualifies. Being an artifact also lets it pull double duty in builds that count or sacrifice artifacts.
This is the Commander 2014 printing, collector number 243, a non-foil rare illustrated by Daniel Ljunggren. Commander 2014 built each of its decks around a single color, which made this mono-color cost reducer a natural fit for the set.
