Item Description

Every point of damage counts, and Jaya, Venerated Firemage counts it twice. Her static ability says that if another red source you control would deal damage to a permanent or player, it deals that much plus 1 instead. Shocks become three-damage spells, one-damage pingers become two-damage pingers, and a spell that hits several targets gets the bonus on each of them.

For five mana she arrives with 5 loyalty and a −2 that deals 2 damage to any target, which lets her protect herself or finish off a creature immediately. She first appeared as one of War of the Spark's uncommon planeswalkers, and she slots neatly into red Commander decks that win through burn, repeatable pingers and damage triggers, where that extra point adds up fast over a whole game.

This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 513, illustrated by Yongjae Choi, in foil. It was issued as a Secret Lair bonus card, an uncommon planeswalker given a premium foil treatment.
