Item Description
What does a borderless Jaya look like when an artist gets the whole card to work with? Fajareka Setiawan's Secret Lair version gives the full card over to one of Magic's most quotable pyromancers, a character red players knew from flavor text years before she became a planeswalker in Dominaria.
Jaya Ballard costs five mana and starts at 5 loyalty, with two +1 abilities that make her a perfect fit for instant and sorcery decks. The first adds three red mana that can only be spent on instants and sorceries, enough to cast a burn spell and still have mana for the rest of your turn. The second discards up to three cards and draws that many, turning dead lands and awkward cards into fresh options. If you get her to the −8, the emblem lets you cast instants and sorceries from your graveyard for the rest of the game. For a red spells Commander deck she is both ritual and engine.
This is the Secret Lair Drop borderless printing, collector number 1062, illustrated by Fajareka Setiawan, in foil. It sits right next to Jaya's Immolating Inferno, collector number 1063, in the Secret Lair numbering.
