Item Description
Anyone who traveled with Jan Jansen in Baldur's Gate II remembers the gnome inventor who never stopped telling stories. In Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate he becomes a three-color tinkerer who recycles one kind of artifact into another, which feels exactly right for a character always fiddling with some contraption.
He is a 3/3 with haste for red, white and black, and both of his abilities tap him. Sacrifice an artifact creature and you make two Treasure tokens; sacrifice a noncreature artifact and you make two 1/1 colorless Construct artifact creature tokens. The two halves feed each other: a Treasure can become two Constructs, and a Construct can become two Treasures, so every activation grows your pile of artifacts. Add untap effects or sacrifice payoffs and Jan turns into a Mardu artifact engine with plenty of room for combo-minded deckbuilders to explore.
