Magic: The Gathering single: Jace, the Living Guildpact. Our grade: Lightly Played or better. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Jace became the Living Guildpact at the end of the Return to Ravnica story, the magical arbiter between Ravnica's guilds, and his Magic 2015 card reflects a more seasoned mind mage. For four mana he starts at five loyalty. His +1 looks at the top two cards of your library and puts one into your graveyard, his −3 returns another nonland permanent to its owner's hand, and his −8 has each player shuffle their hand and graveyard into their library before you draw seven.
That toolkit fits several Commander decks. The +1 filters your draws while stocking the graveyard for flashback, delve and reanimation, the −3 bounces a problem permanent or resets your own enters-the-battlefield creatures, and the ultimate rebuilds your hand while wiping out everyone's graveyard plans. Starting at five loyalty, he can protect himself with the −3 and still tick back up.
This is the San Diego Comic-Con 2014 printing, collector number 62, with alternate art by comic-book artist Jae Lee, in foil. It came from the convention-exclusive set of dark Magic 2015 planeswalkers, a striking variant for a Jace collection.
