Item Description
Instruments of Chaos Starring Young Indiana Jones is a side-scrolling action platformer developed by Wayne's World developer Gradiente and published by Sega in 1994, riding the wave of Indiana Jones enthusiasm that followed the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles television series. You step into the fedora of a teenage Indy, navigating a globe-trotting adventure through jungles, enemy strongholds, and exotic locales. The gameplay blends the whip-cracking, obstacle-leaping energy you'd expect from the franchise with the 16-bit action mechanics the Genesis did so well — tight controls, colorful sprite work, and a pace that keeps you moving.
What makes this one a genuine curiosity among Genesis collectors is its relatively limited footprint in the library. It didn't get the same marketing push as some of the bigger licensed titles of the era, which means a lot of Genesis fans simply never crossed paths with it growing up. The game leans into the adventure-serial spirit of Indiana Jones — environmental puzzles, enemy encounters, and that satisfying crack of the whip — all rendered in the Genesis's distinct, punchy visual style.
The complete-in-box presentation adds real value for anyone building a serious Genesis collection. The manual gives you the full story setup and move list the way it was intended to be read — no digging through fan wikis required — and the box art captures that classic early-90s licensed game energy with Indy front and center.
This one is a natural pick for Genesis collectors chasing licensed titles, Indiana Jones fans who want every corner of the franchise represented on their shelf, or anyone who loves discovering the overlooked gems hiding in the 16-bit catalog.
