Item Description
Imperial Seal is the sorcery-speed sibling of Vampiric Tutor, and in a deck built around one perfect card that is often all you need. For a single black mana and 2 life, you search your library for any card, shuffle, and put it on top, locking in your next draw. A combo piece, a board wipe, the exact answer to whatever is about to beat you: name it and it is waiting.
The cost is real, since you spend a card and your next draw to set it up, but black Commander decks built to assemble a specific combo or find one game-changing spell happily make that trade. First printed in Portal Three Kingdoms in 1999, it is a piece of old-school Magic history that Double Masters 2022 brought into a modern booster set.
This is the Double Masters 2022 borderless printing, collector number 354, with new art by Mark Tedin, whose Magic work goes back to the game's original Alpha set, offered here in foil. The borderless version also carries new flavor text in which a magistrate's assistant points out, with weary sarcasm, that of course an envelope like that held a death threat and not a wedding invitation.
