Magic: The Gathering single: Ikra Shidiqi, the Usurper, from Commander Legends. Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Ikra Shidiqi is a commander for players who like their creatures thick. This black-green Snake Wizard is a five-mana 3/7 with menace, and her engine cares about toughness instead of power: whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, you gain life equal to that creature's toughness. Ikra herself connecting for 3 gains you 7, and a team of sturdy, high-toughness bodies turns every attack into a huge swing in the life totals.
Partner is where she gets interesting. Pair her with another partner commander to stretch into more colors, such as Tymna the Weaver for an Abzan build that draws cards off the same attacks that gain you life. Evasion granters, toughness-matters cards and creatures with oversized backsides all make her lifegain snowball, and menace on a 7-toughness body makes her an awkward attacker to block.
Ikra debuted in Commander 2016 as part of the first wave of partner commanders, and this is her Commander Legends foil-etched printing, collector number 519, illustrated by Josu Hernaiz, with the textured etched finish and inverted frame Commander Legends used for its premium legends. The flavor text is a single defiant line: "Now the scaled ones rule Tarkir."
