Item Description
Hit one opponent and the whole table feels it. Hydra Omnivore is a six-mana 8/8, and whenever it deals combat damage to an opponent it deals that much damage to each other opponent too. In a four-player game, one unblocked swing is effectively 24 damage spread across the table.
That is why it was designed for multiplayer from day one, debuting in the original 2011 Commander decks. Give it trample, evasion or a pump spell and the numbers climb fast, and because the damage copies whatever it actually dealt, every bonus point of power is multiplied across your opponents. It is a showcase finisher for green big-creature decks and one of the most satisfying ways to pressure an entire pod at once. Its flavor text has an elder druid praising the hydra for never playing favorites, which is exactly how it behaves.
This is the Commander 2018 printing, collector number 153, a mythic rare illustrated by Svetlin Velinov, in non-foil.
