Item Description
Hungry Lynx turns cat-and-mouse into an actual game plan. At the beginning of your end step, an opponent of your choice gets a 1/1 black Rat with deathtouch. That sounds generous until you notice that Cats you control have protection from Rats, so those Rats can't block, damage or target your Cats.
The payoff is in the hunt. Whenever any Rat dies, whether it belongs to you or an opponent, every Cat you control gets a +1/+1 counter. The Rats you hand out become chump blockers your Cats ignore, deathtouch threats that pester the rest of the table, and future counters for your whole pride. In multiplayer Commander that makes the Lynx both a growth engine and a bit of mischievous politics.
Commander 2017 was the tribal-themed Commander release, and Hungry Lynx was built for its Cat deck led by Arahbo, Roar of the World. This is the Commander 2017 printing, collector number 31, illustrated by Shreya Shetty, in non-foil.
