Item Description
Howltooth Hollow is a land that rewards you for running out of cards. It enters tapped, looks at the top four cards of your library and tucks one away face down, then taps for black like any Swamp would. So even when its payoff never fires, it still makes your mana while quietly holding a card in reserve.
The payoff is the fun part. Pay one black mana and tap the Hollow, and you may play the hidden card for free, but only if every player has an empty hand. Opponents included. That makes it a natural finisher for black decks that strip hands bare: heavy discard strategies, symmetrical hand-dumping effects, or aggressive builds that empty their own hand early and then lean on the opponent's. Hide something big under it and the moment every hand hits zero can swing the whole game.
Howltooth Hollow comes from Lorwyn's original cycle of hideaway lands, and this is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 438, illustrated by Shie Nanahara, in foil.
