Item Description
Pick a creature type and Herald's Horn starts working for it immediately. As it enters, you choose a type; creature spells of that type cost one less to cast, and at the beginning of each of your upkeeps you look at the top card of your library and, if it is a creature of the chosen type, you may reveal it and put it into your hand.
That is ramp and card advantage in one colorless artifact, which is why it has become a fixture in creature-type Commander decks. Elves, Dragons, Vampires, Cats, Wizards, Slivers: whatever the deck, the discount speeds up every creature spell, and the upkeep peek quietly hands you extra threats over a long game. Because it is colorless, it slots into any deck that leans on a single type, and stacking it with other type-matters cost reducers makes those big turns arrive early.
Herald's Horn was introduced in Commander 2017, the year all four preconstructed decks were built around creature types. This is the Commander 2017 printing, collector number 53, an uncommon illustrated by Jason Felix, in non-foil.
