Item Description

Ten years after Harry first arrived at Hogwarts on PlayStation, EA's run of film adaptations reached its final chapter with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Developed by EA Bright Light and released alongside the last film in 2011, it follows the movie into the Battle of Hogwarts and the final confrontation with Voldemort, and it plays as an over-the-shoulder action game in which wands take the place of guns.

Each face button holds two spells, with a quick double press firing the second, so combat comes down to juggling stuns, disarming charms and blasting curses as Death Eaters close in, while Harry alone can Apparate out of trouble. What makes Part 2 more interesting than its predecessor is the cast. As the castle falls under siege, the story hands control to a wider circle of heroes, letting you fight as Ron, Hermione, Neville Longbottom, Professor McGonagall, Seamus Finnigan, Ginny Weasley and even Molly Weasley, before everything builds to the climactic duel in which Harry and Voldemort's spells lock together and you force the beam back toward the Dark Lord.

It was also the first Harry Potter game to support PlayStation Move on PS3. Critics at the time were split, pointing to repetitive firefights, but what it does well is put you inside the film's biggest set piece alongside characters the earlier games mostly left on the sidelines. As the closing entry in a decade of EA Harry Potter tie-ins that began with Sorcerer's Stone, it is a neat way to cap a collection of the film-era games with the story's final page.

The game is a single-player third person shooter, with magic spells substituting weapons. The game resembles its predecessor in most aspects, but the stealth sections from the previous game are omitted. The cover system has been tweaked. In different levels the player controls various characters from Harry Potter movies including Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom, Professor McGonagall and others.
