Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Grindstone looks modest: a one-mana artifact that, for three mana and a tap, makes a target player mill two cards. The twist is the repeat clause. If the two milled cards share a color, it does it again, and keeps going until a pair breaks the pattern. Colorless cards such as lands share no color, so most activations stop after a round or two, but a lucky streak can strip away a big chunk of a library.
Then there's Painter's Servant. With the Servant naming a color, every card in every library becomes that color, so every pair matches and a single Grindstone activation mills an opponent's entire library. It's a famous two-card combo from Legacy and cube, and a fun surprise in Commander mill decks that want an unexpected finish.
This is the Kaladesh Inventions printing, collector number 39, illustrated by Johann Bodin, in foil. Kaladesh Inventions were the Masterpiece Series foils found as rare inserts in Kaladesh and Aether Revolt boosters, each set in an ornate gilded frame that suits the plane's inventors'-fair aesthetic and a machine that simply won't stop grinding.
