Item Description
A rotting zombie warlord that eats its own army to keep fighting is perfect material for a horror anthology. This Grimgrin, Corpse-Born comes from Secret Lair x Creepshow, the collaboration with the horror series that began as George A. Romero and Stephen King's love letter to classic horror comics, and it presents Grimgrin as a full-art borderless card painted by Greg Staples.
Grimgrin is a five-mana blue-black 5/5 Zombie Warrior that enters tapped and doesn't untap on its own. Feed it, though, and it becomes a monster: sacrifice another creature to untap Grimgrin and put a +1/+1 counter on it. Whenever it attacks, it destroys target creature the defending player controls and grows again. Every attack is removal, and every sacrificed Zombie token or creature with a death trigger becomes another chance to swing.
That makes Grimgrin a long-time Commander favorite for Dimir Zombie and aristocrats decks, where token makers and recursion keep the buffet stocked. First printed in the original Innistrad, it has rarely looked as gruesome as it does here. This is the Secret Lair x Creepshow printing, collector number 1461, a borderless full-art card illustrated by Greg Staples & Scott Okumura, in foil.
