Magic: The Gathering single: Grim Tutor. Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
For two decades Grim Tutor was a legend in the most literal sense: a Starter 1999 rare that worked like Demonic Tutor for one more black mana and 3 life, printed in a beginner product and not reprinted again until Core Set 2021. Now it's a popular pick for black Commander decks. For three mana, you search your library for any card, put it into your hand and lose 3 life. Combo piece, board wipe, the missing land, the answer to the threat in front of you: whatever the game needs, it finds.
This version comes from Secret Lair x MSCHF, the November 2021 drop made with the art collective MSCHF. Its borderless art references the collective's “Death of the Influencer” project, and the card carries deadpan flavor text to match: “nothing is sacred.” This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 365, credited to MSCHF, in traditional foil with a silver laminate.
The same drop produced a deliberately misspelled “Swords 2 Plowshares” and a bonus card with a peel-off foil sticker, so this Tutor comes from one of the stranger, more playful chapters in Secret Lair history. It's a card you'll actually want to cast, wearing a story you'll want to explain.
