Item Description
Five colors, one land slot, and a small fee whenever you ask for color. Grand Coliseum enters tapped, then taps for colorless mana for free or for one mana of any color at the cost of 1 damage to you. That flexibility is the whole point: whatever your hand demands, this land can produce it, and the sting is far gentler than Tarnished Citadel's 3 damage for the same service.
Commander is where it shines. Multicolor decks with demanding mana costs need every source of fixing they can get, and Grand Coliseum fits any color identity without the restrictions of tri-lands or the deck-thinning tricks of fetches. In life-hungry 40-point games, a point of damage here and there is an easy price for casting the right spell on time. It has been doing this job since its first printing in Onslaught.
This is the Commander 2016 printing, collector number 299, illustrated by Carl Critchlow, in non-foil. The set's four-color decks made it a natural home for a land that never says no to a color.
