"What is death?" he asked the raven. "Your next birth," it replied. Golgari Thug's flavor text fits the Restless in Peace Secret Lair drop perfectly, and Dan Mumford's vivid, poster-style art turns a humble two-drop into a striking piece of graveyard iconography.
The card is a quiet workhorse for graveyard decks. When Thug dies, you put a creature card from your graveyard on top of your library, setting up your next draw or lining up a reanimation target. With dredge 4, you can replace a draw by milling four cards and returning Thug to your hand, which lets you recycle it again and again while feeding your graveyard. In Golgari self-mill and aristocrats decks it keeps coming back, and every trip to the graveyard leaves you with something useful.
