Item Description
Blue-white decks live and die by consistency, and Glacial Fortress is the land that quietly fixes it. It taps for white or blue, and it enters untapped as long as you already control a Plains or an Island, so from your second land drop onward it usually plays like a free dual land. Counterspell decks that want to hold mana open, flicker engines and control lists that need both colors on curve all run smoother with a Fortress in the mana base.
The design debuted in Magic 2010 as part of the check-land cycle, and it is at its best in Commander, where Azorius and multicolor decks full of basics, or nonbasic lands that carry the Plains and Island types, will see it come in untapped almost every time.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 456, a borderless non-foil illustrated by Matt Jukes. With the art running edge to edge and no black frame around it, a workhorse land becomes a showpiece in any deck that wants its mana base to look as good as it plays.
