Item Description

Seven mana is a lot to ask, but few creatures change the math of a game as dramatically as Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. While she is on the battlefield, damage that any source would deal to an opponent or their permanents is doubled, and damage coming at you or your permanents has half of it prevented, rounded up. Your attacks hit twice as hard; theirs land at half strength.

She is a 5/5 flier with first strike in her own right, so she attacks for ten and rarely loses a fight in the air. Boros decks built around angels, burn or wide combat boards get the most out of her, and in multiplayer Commander the doubling applies to every opponent at once, turning burn spells that hit each opponent into table-wide devastation.

This is the Masters 25 printing, collector number 204, illustrated by Jason Chan, in non-foil. Masters 25 celebrated Magic's 25th anniversary by reprinting standout cards from across the game's history, and Gisela, who first appeared in 2012's Avacyn Restored, was part of that lineup.
