Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Most planeswalkers spend their early turns hiding behind blockers. Gideon Blackblade charges straight into combat. On your turn he is a 4/4 indestructible creature for just three mana, and any damage that would be dealt to him during your turn is prevented, so he attacks without fear of a bad block. Once your turn ends he goes back to being only a planeswalker, which leaves creature-only removal cast on an opponent's turn with nothing to aim at.
His +1 keeps an aggressive white deck humming. Each turn another creature you control picks up your choice of vigilance, lifelink or indestructible, so you can race harder, claw back life in a tight game or send your best attacker into a crowded board without fear of losing it. If he climbs to six loyalty, his −6 exiles any nonland permanent outright, a clean answer to whatever was giving you trouble.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 503, a foil Secret Lair bonus card illustrated by Kieran Yanner rather than the original War of the Spark artist. For collectors following Gideon Jura across his many cards, it is a distinctive version of the character from the story arc that brought his journey to a close.
