Item Description
Gisa Cecani doesn't ask anyone's permission to raise the dead, and her card proves it. For five mana, Ghoulcaller Gisa is a 3/4 legendary Human Wizard with a nasty activated ability: pay one black mana, tap her and sacrifice another creature to create a number of 2/2 black Zombie tokens equal to that creature's power.
That turns every creature into a Zombie investment. Sacrifice a 2/2 Zombie and you get two back, so the horde grows every turn on its own; sacrifice a creature that's about to die anyway, or one with huge power, and the payoff gets enormous. In Commander she leads mono-black Zombie and sacrifice decks, pairing with anything that pumps power, rewards creatures dying or turns a swarm of Zombies into a finishing blow.
This is the original Commander 2014 printing, collector number 23, a mythic illustrated by Karla Ortiz, in non-foil. Commander 2014 was the year of mono-colored Commander decks, and Gisa's flavor text, “Geralf, must you always whine? I agreed to nothing. I'll raise ghouls anytime I wish,” captures the sibling rivalry between Innistrad's two famous necromancers.
