Item Description
Sonic the Hedgehog lending a helping hand turns out to be a perfect match for Generous Gift. The card destroys any permanent, any type at all, for three mana at instant speed, then gives its controller a 3/3 green Elephant, the kind of favor only a hero could make sound friendly.
That flexibility has made it a fixture in white Commander decks. It can take out an opposing commander, a combo artifact, an enchantment, a planeswalker or a problem land, and the leftover Elephant is rarely a fair trade for whatever it replaced. Holding it up at instant speed keeps opponents guessing, and it never sits dead in your hand because there is always a target worth removing.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 2088, from the Secret Lair x Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration, a borderless foil illustrated by longtime Sonic comics artist Tracy Yardley. Its flavor text gives Sonic himself the last word on helping out a friend, turning a staple removal spell into a playful tribute to Sega's speedster.
