Item Description

Every turn its mana sits open, Gavony Township makes your whole team a little bigger. The land taps for colorless mana, or you can pay two generic, one green and one white mana and tap it to put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control.

That is a repeatable anthem hiding in your land slot, which is why it shows up in so many green-white Commander decks. Token decks turn a crowd of 1/1s into a real army, counter decks get extra value from creatures that care about +1/+1 counters, and any Selesnya build gains a late-game mana sink without spending a spell slot. Because it is a land, it also tends to survive the enchantment and artifact removal that would knock out a similar effect.

This is the Commander 2020 printing, collector number 276, illustrated by Peter Mohrbacher, in non-foil. First printed in Dark Ascension, the card's flavor text comes from Gavony's militia deciding to look to their own defenses as the church's protective wards weaken, a fitting backdrop for a land that strengthens everyone at once.
