Item Description

Pick a color, and Gauntlet of Power cranks it all the way up. As this five-mana artifact enters, you choose a color: creatures of that color get +1/+1, and whenever a basic land is tapped for mana of that color, its controller adds an additional mana of that color.

In a mono-colored Commander deck, that is an anthem and a doubling of every matching basic land you own, fuel for huge X spells, expensive activated abilities and two-spell turns. The catch keeps it interesting: both effects apply to every player, so an opponent sharing your color gets the same boost. Reading the table, and naming a color only you are leaning on, is part of the fun.

This is the Kaladesh Inventions printing, collector number 12, illustrated by John Severin Brassell, in foil. Kaladesh Inventions was the Masterpiece Series that turned up as rare foil inserts in Kaladesh-block boosters, dressing classic artifacts in ornate frames that echo the plane's inventor-and-filigree style. It is a showpiece for any artifact-loving collector.
