This is a loose GameShark cartridge for the Nintendo 64: the cartridge only, with no original box or manual. Tested before listing. The photos are of this exact item — look them over closely. It ships carefully packed and protected.
Item Description
Typing a string of hexadecimal digits into a menu and then watching Link float straight up into the sky of Hyrule was a rite of passage for Nintendo 64 kids, and the GameShark is how it happened.
Published by InterAct and built on Datel's Action Replay technology, the GameShark plugs into the N64's cartridge slot with your game seated on top. It boots to its own menu, where you can choose from built-in codes for popular games or punch in new ones as eight-digit address and four-digit value pairs, the format players copied out of magazines and traded on early cheat websites.
That made it far more than a shortcut. Infinite health and ammo were only the start; the same codes let players walk beyond the edges of levels, swap in characters and models never meant to be playable, and dig into leftover content tucked away on the cartridge. For a lot of players it was a first look at how games actually work under the hood, and it sits in an N64 collection as a real piece of the era's culture.
