“What's the worst that can happen?” asks the flavor text, and with Gamble, finding out is half the fun. For a single red mana you search your library for any card and put it into your hand, then discard a card at random and shuffle. The search comes first, so the card you just fetched can be the one that ends up in the graveyard.
Smart players tilt the odds in their favor. Cast it with a nearly empty hand and the risk shrinks to almost nothing, and in a reanimator or graveyard deck, losing a card at random might be exactly what you wanted anyway. A true tutor is a rare thing in red, which is why Gamble shows up in so many Commander decks hunting for a combo piece, a key engine or their biggest threat.
This is the Eternal Masters printing from 2016, collector number 132, a rare illustrated by Winona Nelson, in non-foil. Eternal Masters gathered cards prized by Legacy and Commander players, and Gamble, first printed in Urza's Saga, fit that brief neatly.
