Item Description
Gaddock Teeg is tiny, cheap and absolutely miserable to play against if your deck is built on big spells. Two mana buys a 2/2 legendary Kithkin Advisor that stops every player from casting noncreature spells with mana value 4 or greater, as well as any noncreature spell with X in its cost. Wrath of God, Damnation, Genesis Wave, Fireball, Stroke of Genius and every Ultimatum sit stuck in hand while Teeg is on the battlefield.
Because it only touches noncreature spells, a creature-heavy green-white deck barely notices the restriction while control and big-spell decks scramble for an answer. In Commander it works as a prison-flavored leader for a Selesnya creature deck or as a hate piece in the 99, shielding your board from many of the sweepers aimed at it. It also adds a legendary face to Kithkin typal decks.
This is the Ultimate Masters printing from 2018, collector number 199, a rare illustrated by Greg Staples, in non-foil. His flavor text plays on the joke at the heart of the card: those who meet the tiny Kithkin come away remembering a giant of a man.
