Item Description
Commander makes you pay more every time you recast your commander. Fury Storm turns that tax into a payoff. It is a four-mana red instant that copies target instant or sorcery spell, with new targets if you like. The twist is its cast trigger: when you cast it, Fury Storm copies itself once for each time you've cast your commander from the command zone this game, and each of those copies can copy a spell too.
Early on it is a tidy way to double your own big sorcery or redirect an opponent's removal. Later, after your commander has died or been bounced a couple of times, a single Fury Storm can turn one extra-turn spell, tutor or burn spell into three or four. Spellslinger commanders, and any deck whose commander is happy to be recast, get the most out of it.
This is the Commander 2018 printing, collector number 22, a rare illustrated by Mark Poole, whose Magic art goes back to the game's very first set, offered here in non-foil. Few cards scale so directly with the way a Commander game unfolds, which is exactly what makes it so satisfying to resolve.
