Item Description
Freed from the Real looks like a modest utility Aura: for one blue mana you can tap enchanted creature, and for another you can untap it, as many times as you can pay. Then you put it on the right creature and the word “infinite” enters the conversation.
The best-known partner is Bloom Tender. Because Freed from the Real is itself a blue permanent, Bloom Tender taps for at least blue and green; spend the blue to untap it and you keep a green mana every cycle, for as much mana as you like. Other mana creatures that make two or more mana including blue work the same way, which makes the Aura a compact combo piece for Commander decks with a good mana outlet. It has fair uses too: enchant an opponent's creature and spend blue to keep it tapped down, or untap your own attacker so it can block.
Originally from Mirrodin, it returns here in Masters 25: collector number 58, an uncommon illustrated by Scott M. Fischer, in non-foil. Its flavor text, “When a strong mind moves, form and energy shift to heed it,” fits a card that bends a creature to your will.
