Item Description
Take an opponent's best permanent, exile it, and hand out copies to everyone else at the table, yourself included. Fractured Identity is five mana of pure Commander chaos: target nonland permanent is exiled, and each player other than its controller creates a token copy of it.
The swing is huge. Head to head, it removes a threat and steals a copy in one card. In a four-player game it hands out three copies, which turns target selection into a fun political puzzle: hit something that rewards its owner most, like a mana-producing artifact or a creature that churns out value every turn, and you come out ahead even after everyone else benefits. White-blue control and copy-themed decks have made good use of it since its Commander 2017 debut.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 272, illustrated by Justin Hernandez and Alexis Hernandez in a borderless showcase frame, in foil. The art takes over the whole card face, giving a spell about copies and reflections a look that stands out across the table.
