Magic: The Gathering single: Forge, Neverwinter Charlatan. Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Forge Fitzwilliam is the smooth-talking con man of the film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and his Magic card plays exactly like a charlatan should: it profits whenever someone else pays a price. Once each turn, whenever one or more players sacrifice one or more creatures, you create a tapped Treasure token, and Forge gets +2/+0 for each Treasure you control.
His defenses fit the character too. Menace makes him awkward to block, and ward requires an opponent to sacrifice a creature before targeting him, which can itself set off his Treasure trigger. In a black Commander deck built around sacrifice, from aristocrats boards to edict effects that force opponents to give up creatures, every death becomes mana and every Treasure becomes extra power, so a four-mana 2/4 can quickly start swinging much harder. Treasure-themed decks get a legendary leader or supporting piece that rewards the tokens they already make.
This is the Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves printing, collector number 1239, illustrated by Liangliang Zhang, in foil. Under Magic's rules the card goes by its in-universe name, Evin, Waterdeep Opportunist, while this printing carries the film character's name.
