Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Fist of Suns is a three-mana artifact with one rule-bending line: you may pay {W}{U}{B}{R}{G} rather than pay the mana cost for spells you cast. That sounds modest until you point it at the most expensive cards in a five-color deck. A sixteen-mana Draco, a towering colorless Eldrazi or a seven-mana Ultimatum all become five colored mana, and the option applies to every spell you cast for as long as the Fist stays on the battlefield.
The artifact debuted in Fifth Dawn, the set of sunburst and the WUBRG-costed Bringers, and its flavor text gives voice to Memnarch, the scheming villain of the original Mirrodin block. It is a natural fit under five-color commanders like The Ur-Dragon, and it doubles up the plan of Jodah, Archmage Eternal, who grants the same alternate cost. One thing worth knowing: paying WUBRG instead of the mana cost means X is zero, so the Fist shines on big fixed costs rather than X spells.
This is the Commander 2017 printing, collector number 211, a rare illustrated by Arnie Swekel, in non-foil, from the year The Ur-Dragon headlined a five-color dragon precon.
