Item Description

Three years after Ike's mercenaries freed Crimea, peace on the continent of Tellius has not lasted, and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn opens not with a returning hero but with a nation under occupation. Daein has lost its war and is ruled harshly by the Begnion Empire's occupying army, and a silver-haired girl named Micaiah, gifted with a strange power of foresight, fights back with a ragged band of rebels called the Dawn Brigade. Developed by Intelligent Systems as the direct sequel to Path of Radiance on the GameCube, it is the biggest, boldest story the Tellius saga ever told, and it makes you earn your way back to the familiar faces.

The campaign unfolds across four parts, and each one puts a different army under your command. You start with Micaiah's scrappy underdogs, move to Crimea as Queen Elincia's young reign is tested by rebellion, and then rejoin Ike and the Greil Mercenaries as they march with the laguz alliance against Begnion. Seeing one war from several sides is the game's masterstroke. Units you nurtured in one part can end up across the battlefield from you in the next, and the story's questions about loyalty, prejudice between beorc and laguz, and what a soldier owes a crown hit harder because you have fought for more than one answer.

On the map, this is classic Fire Emblem with the stakes raised. The weapon triangle, careful positioning and permanent death for any unit who falls are all here, and the difficulty is famously unforgiving. Radiant Dawn adds a third tier of class promotions, unlocking powerful mastery skills for the veterans you have kept alive the whole way, while laguz warriors swing between vulnerable and devastating as their transformation gauges rise and fall. Weapon forging returns in reworked form, and players who finished Path of Radiance can carry data over from their GameCube save, a rare bit of cross-console continuity.

Radiant Dawn also marked the end of an era. Its finale reaches all the way to the goddess Ashera and the Tower of Guidance, closing the Tellius story for good, and it was the last mainline Fire Emblem built for a home console until Three Houses arrived on Switch in 2019. The older, Ragnell-wielding Ike of this game is the version that went on to fight in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which sent a wave of new players looking for where he came from. For tactics fans, it is the payoff Path of Radiance spent an entire game setting up, and a long, punishing campaign that makes every hard-won victory feel earned.

About the game

Radiant Dawn is a turn-based tactics RPG and a direct sequel, 3 years have passed, to the game "Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance" for the Nintendo GameCube. It features new magic, class upgrades, weapons, and a reworked forging system. The game uses a somewhat upgraded version of the previous engine so the games look similar. You can carry over some data from the previous games save file but only a normal or hard mode file will work because a bug will cause the Wii to freeze if an easy mode save file is on the GameCube memory card.
