Item Description
“Here, kitty, kitty, kitty . . .” The joke in Fierce Empath's flavor text is that the kitty in question is usually something enormous. For three mana, this 1/1 Elf searches your library for any creature card with mana value 6 or greater and puts it into your hand.
That's the whole job, and it's a great one. Ramp decks that live and die on their top end can use the Empath to find the dragon, Eldrazi or game-ending finisher they built around, while leaving a body behind to chump block or feed a sacrifice outlet. Blink effects let you repeat the search, reanimator decks can grab a big creature to discard, and Elf typal players get a tutor that shares their creature type. In Commander, where the biggest creatures often decide the game, a cheap creature that turns your deck into a reliable path to them is a smart, low-cost include.
