Item Description
Every Commander table eventually meets that one land: the utility land that untaps for absurd amounts of mana, the creature land that keeps swinging, the legendary location the whole deck is built around. Field of Ruin is the polite, colorless way to say no.
It taps for colorless mana like any utility land, but for two mana you can tap and sacrifice it to destroy target nonbasic land an opponent controls. Then every player searches for a basic land and puts it onto the battlefield. That symmetry is the clever part: your opponent gets a basic back, so it rarely feels like a blowout, but you also replace the Field with a basic of your choice, which fixes your colors and keeps your land count intact. Because it fits in any deck regardless of color, it's an easy include for anyone who wants a land slot that doubles as an answer.
This is the Time Spiral Remastered printing, collector number 407, illustrated by Dimitar Marinski, offered here in non-foil. It comes from the set's timeshifted bonus sheet, which dressed cards from across Magic's history in the old-style retro frame, so a card first printed in 2017's Ixalan gets a look that predates it by decades.
