Item Description
Black has always had trouble with enchantments, which is what makes Feed the Swarm such a valuable two-mana sorcery. It destroys target creature or enchantment an opponent controls, and you lose life equal to that permanent's mana value. The price is rarely painful against the cheap Auras, curses and value engines that give black decks fits, and the card stays flexible enough to handle a creature when that is the bigger problem.
In Commander, where black decks often run only a handful of ways to deal with an opposing enchantment, it earns a place in a huge number of lists. Life is a resource in the format, and paying a few points to remove a game-warping enchantment or a troublesome commander is usually a bargain.
This is the Marvel Universe printing, collector number 16, a borderless full-art card in non-foil featuring comic artwork credited to Ed Hannigan and Pablo Marcos. Marvel Universe is the 40-card bonus sheet found in Marvel's Spider-Man boosters, reprinting Magic staples with artwork drawn from Spider-Man comics, so this card puts a slice of classic comic history right into your deck.
