Complete in box: the cartridge, the manual and the box, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. Look over the photos for condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.

Item Description

One morning you are a sword-swinging Paladin guarding the castle in Castele; that afternoon you are a Cook fussing over a stew, and by evening an Angler casting off the docks at Port Puerto. Fantasy Life, from Level-5, is built on that freedom, and it is one of the most relaxing, quietly addictive RPGs on the 3DS. Nintendo published it in North America in 2014, and Nobuo Uematsu of Final Fantasy fame composed its cheerful score.

The heart of the game is its twelve Lives, the professions you can take up and swap between whenever you like: Paladin, Mercenary, Hunter and Magician for combat; Miner, Woodcutter and Angler for gathering; and Cook, Blacksmith, Carpenter, Tailor and Alchemist for crafting. Each has its own master, its own challenges and a ladder of ranks to climb, and progress in one keeps paying off in the others. A Woodcutter's lumber feeds a Carpenter's furniture, a Miner's ore becomes a Blacksmith's sword, and that sword makes your Mercenary a little more dangerous out in the wilds.

The kingdom of Reveria is a pleasure to wander, from the stone streets of Castele to the desert city of Al Maajik, and a main story with a chatty butterfly companion named Flutter gives the adventure some shape without ever rushing you. The writing is light and silly in the best way, with plenty of gentle jokes, and you can decorate your own home with the furniture and clothing you craft along the way.

It is the kind of game where you sit down to finish one quick request and look up an hour later. Its blend of light combat, gathering and crafting won it a devoted following, and Level-5 eventually returned to the idea with Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. This 3DS game is where it began for Western players, and it still hits the sweet spot between cozy life sim and real RPG.
