Item Description
Special Energy cards give Pokémon extra muscle, and Fan of Waves is a tidy way to take that away. This Item card puts a Special Energy attached to one of your opponent's Pokémon on the bottom of their deck instead of the discard pile, which keeps it out of reach of anything that recovers cards from the discard.
It also carries the Rapid Strike label, part of the Single Strike and Rapid Strike battle styles introduced in Battle Styles, the 2021 expansion where Fan of Waves first appeared. That tag ties it to the Urshifu-inspired Rapid Strike theme of the Sword and Shield era, so it slots naturally into decks built around Rapid Strike Pokémon and support cards, while its Special Energy removal is useful against any opponent leaning on those powerful Energy cards.
This is the Chilling Reign secret rare, numbered 226/198, a full-art foil printing illustrated by sadaji. Its number runs past the set's 198-card main list, which is how the Pokémon TCG marks its secret rares. Chilling Reign, released in 2021, drew on The Crown Tundra with Ice Rider and Shadow Rider Calyrex and the Galarian legendary birds, and full-art Trainer cards like this one are a satisfying way to complete a binder page from that era.
