Complete in box: the disc, the manual and the original case, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. The photos are of this exact copy — look them over closely for its condition, packaging and details. Discs are professionally resurfaced when they need it and tested before listing. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.
There is fast, and then there is F-Zero GX. Thirty machines scream out of the starting grid at speeds well over a thousand kilometers per hour, tracks twist into tubes, cylinders and corkscrews, and one clipped wall can send you spinning into the void. Few racing games before or since have matched its sense of velocity, and it still feels startling on a GameCube today.
The story behind it is as unusual as the game. Nintendo handed its futuristic racing series to Sega’s Amusement Vision, the studio led by Toshihiro Nagoshi, at a time when the idea of Sega making a Nintendo game would have been unthinkable a few years earlier. The result was a two-part project: F-Zero GX for the GameCube and F-Zero AX for arcades, running on the shared Triforce hardware. Players could even carry custom machines between the two on a GameCube memory card, and AX content can be unlocked in the home game.
Underneath the spectacle sits the precise, unforgiving design the series is known for. Your energy meter is both your health and your boost, so every burst of speed is a gamble, and spin and side attacks let you knock rivals off the track. The Grand Prix runs through the Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and Diamond cups across classic locations such as Mute City, Big Blue, Port Town and Sand Ocean. In the garage you can build your own machine from parts, and four friends can race in split-screen.
GX also gave Captain Falcon a proper spotlight. Story Mode follows him through nine chapters of missions, from training runs to showdowns with Black Shadow, and its harder difficulty settings are infamous among players for how much they demand. That challenge is part of the appeal: this is a racer built for memorization, practice and the thrill of finally nailing a perfect lap. It was also the last new home console F-Zero, which makes it the series’ high-water mark and the version speedrunners and racing fans still return to.
F-Zero GX is the fourth installment in the F-Zero series and the successor to F-Zero X. The game continues the series' difficult, high-speed racing style, retaining the basic gameplay and control system from the Nintendo 64 title. A heavy emphasis is placed on track memorization and reflexes, which aids in completing the title. GX introduces a "Story Mode" element, where the player walks in the footsteps of Captain Falcon through nine chapters, completing various missions.
