Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Extraplanar Lens turns a pile of matching lands into a mana engine. When it enters, you may exile target land you control. From then on, whenever a land with the same name as the exiled card is tapped for mana, its controller adds one additional mana of any type that land produced.
Imprint a Forest in a mono-green deck and every Forest you tap afterward makes double mana. That's why the Lens shines in mono-colored Commander decks and other basic-heavy builds, where most of the mana base shares a single name. The ability is symmetrical, so an opponent tapping the same basic type gets the bonus too, but in a dedicated mono-color list the payoff tilts heavily in your favor. The exiled land is gone for good, so it's best cast once you have a land to spare.
This is the Commander Masters borderless printing, collector number 656, a mythic illustrated by Ron Spears, in foil. The Lens first appeared in Fifth Dawn in 2004, part of the original Mirrodin block's imprint mechanic, and Commander Masters brought it back in a set built around the format where it does its best work.
