Item Description
“Metal is scarce, smiths are pricey, and plate mail is heavy.” Ethereal Armor's flavor text is a joke, but the card is serious business. For one white mana, it gives the enchanted creature +1/+1 for each enchantment you control, plus first strike, and since the Armor counts itself, it is always at least a +1/+1 boost.
Stack a few Auras on one creature and the numbers climb fast. That is why Ethereal Armor became a staple in Aura-based strategies, most famously alongside hexproof creatures that opponents can't easily remove once they're suited up. In Commander, it is a natural fit for enchantress and Voltron decks that load up a single threat and swing, and first strike helps that creature survive combat while it does.
This is the Time Spiral Remastered printing, collector number 293, illustrated by Daarken, in non-foil. It comes from the set's timeshifted sheet, which reprinted modern-era cards in Magic's classic retro frame, giving this Return to Ravnica favorite a throwback look that stands out in any binder.
