Item Description
A 2/1 for three mana rarely draws a crowd, but Eternal Witness is the exception. When it enters, you may return target card from your graveyard to your hand, any card at all. Your best removal spell, a creature that died last turn, a land, even an instant you used to win a fight: the Witness puts it back in your hand and leaves a body on the board.
That is why it shows up in so many green Commander decks. Flicker it and you get another card back; bounce it and replay it for one more. In longer games it becomes the engine that rebuilds your hand after a board wipe. The flavor text sums her up: “She remembers every word spoken, from the hero's oath to the baby's cry.”
This is the Ultimate Masters printing, collector number 163, illustrated by Chris Rahn, in non-foil. Ultimate Masters, released in December 2018, built much of its play around the graveyard, which made a card-returning creature like the Witness a natural part of the set.
