Item Description
Every reanimator deck starts with the same problem: how do you get the monster into the graveyard? Entomb solves it for a single black mana. You search your library for any card at all, put it straight into your graveyard, then shuffle. On paper that sounds like a drawback. In practice it is half of a combo, because the card you bin is whatever your Reanimate, Animate Dead or Exhume is waiting to bring back, and instant speed lets you set it up at the end of an opponent's turn before untapping to cast the payoff.
That flexibility is why Entomb reaches well beyond classic reanimator. Commander players use it as a tutor for anything that works from the graveyard: flashback spells, creatures that return themselves, or the key piece of a self-mill engine. Seb McKinnon's atmospheric art suits the card, and the flavor text from Ghoulcaller Gisa, “I'll return once you've ripened,” captures a necromancer's gleeful patience.
This is the Eternal Masters printing, collector number 87, illustrated by Seb McKinnon, in non-foil. Eternal Masters was the 2016 reprint set aimed squarely at Legacy, Vintage and the other eternal formats, a fitting home for a card graveyard decks in those formats have leaned on for years.
