Magic: The Gathering single: Enthusiastic Mechanaut, from Promo Pack: Kamigawa Neon Dynasty. Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Enthusiastic Mechanaut is a cheerful two-mana workhorse for any blue-red artifact deck. It is a 2/2 flier for one blue and one red, and while it is on the battlefield your artifact spells cost one generic mana less to cast. That discount covers artifact creatures, equipment, mana rocks and big constructs alike, so the Mechanaut tends to pay for itself within a turn or two.
Izzet artifact strategies love an early play that both attacks in the air and accelerates the rest of the curve. In Commander it slots neatly into artifact-focused decks, where cheap rocks and equipment become cheaper still and a couple of cost reducers together can empty a hand of artifacts in one explosive turn. The flavor text is a charming bit of Neon Dynasty storytelling, in which an eager akki inventor greets her fellow tinkerers with a friendly hello and is answered by shrieks and blaring alarms.
This is the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Promo Pack printing, collector number 509, illustrated by Anna Steinbauer, in non-foil, the version distributed through Promo Packs for the 2022 set.
