Item Description
In a four-player game, Elminster's Simulacrum can turn your opponents' three best creatures into your own private army. For each opponent, you create a token copy of up to one target creature that player controls, all at instant speed. Cast it at the end of the turn before yours, copy the biggest threat at each seat, and you untap with the strongest board on the table.
The copies are full copies, so creatures with enters-the-battlefield abilities trigger again for you, and legendary creatures, dragons and expensive value engines all become fair game. That makes it a dream for blue Commander decks that like to borrow their opponents' best ideas, and a spectacular top-end play in clone and steal themes. The more crowded the table, the better it gets.
Fittingly, the card belongs to the Sage of Shadowdale himself, the Forgotten Realms' most famous wizard, and borrowing the table's best creatures suits him perfectly. This is the extended-art Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate printing, collector number 561, illustrated by Irina Nordsol, in non-foil.
