Item Description
Eldrazi Monument makes an army nearly impossible to stop, then asks you to feed it. The five-mana colorless artifact gives every creature you control +1/+1, flying and indestructible, which turns even a crowd of 1/1 tokens into an airborne strike force that shrugs off damage and destroy effects. The price comes at the beginning of each of your upkeeps: sacrifice a creature, or sacrifice the Monument.
Token decks barely notice the cost. A steady token generator keeps the Monument fed while the rest of the team flies over every ground blocker on the table. Sacrifice decks go further and turn the upkeep requirement into a benefit, setting off death triggers every turn. And because it's colorless, it fits any Commander deck that goes wide. The flavor text, “Gods don't die. They merely slumber,” hints at the Eldrazi titans that Zendikar's people once mistook for their gods.
This is the Commander Anthology printing, collector number 216, illustrated by Mark Tedin, in non-foil. Commander Anthology gathered earlier Commander decks into a single 2017 release, giving this mythic artifact another printing for players building go-wide decks.
